LRIT

The Low Rate Information Transmission (LRIT) is a new imagery dissemination service for Small-scale Data Utilization Station (SDUS). The LRIT data format is a digital format standardized by CGMS. LRIT imagery enables users to extract quantitative meteorological parameters that describes state of the atmosphere and surface of the earth, and provides much wider applications for satellite data.

Dissemination Schedule of VIS and IR4

For polar-stereographic image of East Asia, JMA disseminate VIS image in daytime and IR4(3.8um) image in nighttime. For polar-stereographic image of Northeast and Southwest Japan area, JMA disseminate VIS image only in daytime and nothing in nighttime. Definition of daytime and nighttime here is shown in picture below.
